2016-2017 Academic Year

In the Autumn term we held two meetings

On October 16th Professor Danny Dorling spoke about ‘How comprehensive schools improved our lives & how can we further reduce injustice in education?’ there is an audio recording of the talk through this link and a copy of the slides is also available.

This was followed by a mini conference on 5th November with introductions to the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance  by Adam Arnell and the Strategic Schools Partnership Board by Stan Terry. The principal speaker was the editor of Schools Week Laura McInerney who talked about ‘Education: Whatever Next’. Notes from the meeting may be found HERE.

In the Spring term we held another mini conference with Professor Tim Brighouse talking about ‘Why should we work in partnerships?’ There was also an introduction to the ‘One Oxfordshire – the proposal for a new local authority for Oxfordshire’ and the main session was ‘School Funding: How does it work. What changes are being proposed?’ led by Carole Thomson Chair of OGA. Spring Conference notes

Our Summer term meeting was led by Lucy Butler, Director of Children’s Services  ‘Schools and Oxfordshire: Facing Challenges Together’
